A 5 Minute Morning Routine To Set You Up For Success

Next thing you know you’re spilling coffee down your shirt, getting stuck in traffic and running late?

Nobody likes to start their day rushed and if you’re anything like me, it’s far too easy to let those first 30 minutes create anxiety for the rest of the day.

Years ago, I learned about how freakin’ important it is to have a morning routine. It makes sense, when we take time to get still and clear minded, we’re setting our day up for success.

But here’s where I hit a snag.

Becoming a mom and having a little one, it felt challenging as all heck to get back into a morning routine. I didn’t have hours to get centered, do yoga, meditate, journal, etc.

This is when I realized that even a little bit of time to myself can work wonders, rather than no time at all.

I hear a lot people say,

“I’m not a morning person.”

“I hit snooze ten times before I wake up.”

“I don’t have a lot of time.”

“I don’t know where to start.”

So, here’s a little secret for you. It only takes 5 minutes.

Here’s my 5 minute morning routine to set your mindset and your day up for success, no matter what.

Upon waking, before you even open your eyes, say “Thank you.”

It’s a new day, chock full of opportunities so give thanks for waking up with that breath and the life you’re living. By doing so, you’re already starting with an abundant mindset.

Next, sit up with your eyes closed and quietly or out loud say

(use whatever word you like for the higher power you believe in)

“Spirit/God/Universe,

Please use me to be a force for good.

Thank you for allowing my highest self to guide my thoughts words and actions.

What would you have me say?
Where would you have me go?
What would you have me do?
What would have me write?

What miracles would you have me perform today?”

(This is a variation of a prayer from A Course In Miracles – I added a few more lines.)

Then listen to what you hear.

Sit in silence knowing that you’re supported. You’re always being guided by a source much greater than all of us. Who is loving you. Knowing who you truly are and what you’re capable of. Encouraging you to use your gifts in a way that only you can.

After a few moments of sitting, listening and trusting. Act on the wisdom and guidance you receive.

BAM, 5 minutes of power.

You’ve set yourself up for one heck of a day. It really can be that simple.

Give this a try and let me know how it goes!

Now, over to you. How do you like to set your day up for success? I want to know!
